![]() ![]() There are also numerous game modes to pick. You also have many towers to choose from in-game and I must say the variety is increased even more as each tower has two upgrade different upgrade paths. However, the latter will make another tower more expensive! For example, there are several ways to increase your combat potential: You can purchase several meta upgrades, unlock new upgrades for towers by using them and purchase 4-step power-ups for a particular tower. The strongest point of BTD is the number of options it provides in every aspect. Another one is a thorny bush that grows each turn and reduces whenever a baloons walks by it, popping it in the process. There is an agent that goes batshit terminator mode if a baloon manages to escape. For example, the farmer collects bananas from your farms automatically (normally, it’s manual). These units use another type of currency (don’t worry, no in-app purchases) and has unique abilities. In addition to regular towers, BTD also offers “agents”. Towers cost money, which you earn by popping baloons (and a bit of extra at the end of the turn). To prevent you-know-what from happening, you get to place towers near the roads that shoot the baloons. ![]() If you lose all your lives, well, you know. If they manage to get out alive, you lose a life. After elementals, wizards, soldiers, monsters, zerg, super-heroes, heretics, robots, choppers, tanks and special psychic agents of Blizzard, I never knew I’d get addicted to baloons and cute animals!īTD is a classic TD where periodically enemies (evil baloons in our case) enter the roads from one part of the map and move to the next point. Don’t fret though, as the game has its own style, distinguishing it from many browser or otherwise mini games with generic graphics. As a late-entrant to smart phones (and apparently not a sufficient deviant of browser games) Bloons TD 5 was the first one I played from the series, thanks to Humble Bundle.īloons TD has the least horrific enemies I’ve ever seen in a TD: Baloons! Slaye- Popper of these baloons are equally non-horrific: Animals, especially monkeys. There were also original spin-offs such as Plants and Zombies and eventually, the fact that they require simple controls brought them into mobile. Whether it’s co-op, single, battle-type, straight-placed or maze-based, TD maps attracted a great amount of attention. I enjoyed the genre in Warcraft III as well, with star games such as GreenTD and Elemental TD (It’s gonna take quite a while if I start counting them all!). Today, the original tower defense map from Starcraft will look pretty lame, but it was quite fun back then. The latter is of extreme importance (some may argue it was for worse because…) as from these maps at least two genres arose: MOBAs (…of this) and tower defenses. Modding and map making has granted so much to us gamers: Brilliant new stories, a different take on existing games, nude skins, making Bethesda games decent enough and of course, countless maps in Blizzard RTS games. ![]()
